TRI-OKC Group Ride and Transition Clinic
TRI-OKC Group Ride and Transition Clinic
Sunday, March 11 – 8:30am
Rt 66 Park, Lake Overholser (west side)
Time line:
8:30am – Warm up run.
A 2 mile run of the Fall Classic Duathlon run course. A good way to get the blood flowing or get away from the spouse an hour earlier (haha)
9:00am Transition Clinic
If you’re interested in doing multisport, transition is an important part of the game. This will be a great warm-up for either March in Okarche Duathlon or Rt 66 Triathlon.
Focusing on:
1. How to set up transition and what to bring.
2. How to get through transition, efficiently (run/swim to bike, and bike to run)
3. Importance of brick workouts We’ll setup bike racks so you can practice your run in/bike out and bike in/run out.
9:30am TRI-OKC Group Ride
Join us for a group ride and some multisport basics, open to all, refreshments, too. Feel free to bring a snack (hint, hint) Regardless of speed, ride with us.
We will break up in groups to accommodate your speed. A complete loop of the Lake is 8.15 miles (so you’re never more than 4 miles from your car), so 2 loops will give you the rough distance of March in Okarche Duathlon bike course (18.6 miles), or do 3 loops which will give you the distance of an Olympic distance Rt 66 triathlon bike course.
And if you want to go nuts, 7 loops would be the distance for a Redman half iron bike ride. We’ll ride the lake clockwise. Lake Overholser westside is flat and fast asphalt. The eastside is a little rough(like Redman), and there is a ½ mile section that we’ll have to venture out on 10th street. If you choose to run around Overholser it’s only 7.0 miles if you tippy-toe across the dam.
